The millions that showed up to see Barack Obama become our first African American President. I was in the crowd too! Go here to see more photos.
I was blessed to be able to fly up to Washington, DC to visit Nora and Jesse, old friends from Peace Corps Mozambique, AND to attend the inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Obama. It was cold...very cold. Freezing at least. I had to keep moving my feet to make sure my toes didn't freeze. It was worth it. YES WE DID!
The large crowd and the Capitol Building in the distance. I just heard that there might have been about 2 million people there. This pic shows a few thousand of them.
Nora and Jesse and Jesse's cousin, Aide, placed ourselves in front of the Washington Monument. It turned out to be a good vantage point. It was on a small hill so we could see the Capitol in the distance (where President Obama took the oath), and also had a good view of the "Jumbotron" television screen so we could see what was happening close up.
More people. Lots of people.
