Capulanas

Let's play a game.  Remember when you were little and you would lie on the grass, look up at the sky, and describe what the clouds looked like?  Mozambique has these 1 meter long cuts of fabric with diverse designs called capulanas.  You can use them to tie a baby to your back, to cover your own backside, as a sheet, as a picnic blanket, as a satchel, a tablecloth, a head-wrap.  You can make it into a ladies dress, lounge pants, men's a dress shirt, curtains.  I have seen capulanas with Jesus on them, Sadam Hussein and W surrounded by a heart, the burning twin towers, 50 cent and JZ, as well as fruits and veggies, the Virgin Mary, and lots of other colorful geometic, abstract, and creative patterns.  Look into the capulana designs and see what you can imagine they could be...
