The Milky Way and Cell phones

Last night I was walking back home from Wendy's pictionary party with Tania and Mariamo and maybe 3 minutes after we left the electricity in town blew out.  This has been a more frequent occurrence lately but it doesn't last very long--10 or 15 minutes at most.  Well, the good thing about having no light is that you can see the stars beautifully.  I looked up in the sky and was immediately transported back to Miarinarivo, Madagascar in my old training house and the first time I saw the sky from the southern hemisphere.  It really looks like a huge black blanket someone has thrown over your head and then poked little pinholes in it to let the bright light on the outside in.  A--friggin--mazing.  You have to experience it to get the full sense.  The other place I was transported to when the lights went out was Korea because it wasn't dark but 4 seconds before everyone walking on the street, including Tania and Mariamo opened their cell phones to reveal many different shades of lighting.  I remember being in a large dark opera hall or theater and getting annoyed because my glasses were reflecting the light from everyone texting in the dark.  Ah, the beauty of nature and technology.
