I went to Uruguay this weekend
I met a really nice lady named Dona Ana (funny enough that is my great aunt's name too). Dona Ana makes her living selling onions, garlic, and tomato in the Central Market here in Inhambane. I don't remember who befriended who but we would talk for a while each time I stopped by the market. Come to find out her sister lives 30 seconds from me. Long story short she invited me to her house for lunch today and I got to meet her daughters, granddaughters, and grandson. We had nice conversation and she couldn't stop cracking jokes about how they weren't going to eat that well because I wasn't going to eat any meat. She lives in the neighborhood called Uruguay...supposedly because during the civil war here troops or at least some help from Uruguay came and stayed where the neighborhood is now. The name stuck and that is what it is known as today. This photo is of Dona Ana, Mimi, her granddaughter, and Eric, her grandson. Ana is eating our dessert of sweet avocado.
