Made it to Joberg

Well, this is my first official post on my blog. (That nose-picking photo doesn't count) There is only one electrical outlet that fits my electronics so my camera hasn't been charged up yet. Don't worry though, photos to come soon.

I made it to Johannesburg safely. The flight was bumpy on the take off and landing but at 41,000 feet, we cruised with little turbulence for the about 15 hours in the air. There was this kid on the flight that had the cutest little voice but it got really old really quickly when he kept asking his mother "how long now, mom?" Listen kid, there are 14 hours left! Stop asking. The child behind me had a very nasty cough and by the tingly feeling in my throat and my inability to speak unless I shoot out serious air from my diaphragm, I know I am getting sick. Hopefully the fresh air will help it... actually Jberg is an industrial city and Maputo (where I am flying to tomorrow) is also a big city so I don't know how much fresh air I will get but it will certainly be hot. I'll tell ya how that works out...

I was very happy to see vivid green when I caught sight of SA from the plane. Speaking of the plane...South African Airways had a camera on the tail wing of the plane connected to a channel that the passengers could access for the duration of the flight. How cool is that? I tried to watch it during take off but started to get sick trying to match up the tv screen feeling with what I was seeing out the window and what I was feeling in my stomach. Not a good feeling. I was glad most of the flight was in the dark. All I could see was the blinking light on the front of the plane.

I took a nice bath at the hotel, ordered from Debonaire's Pizza, drank passion fruit juice, and am currently watching "Strictly come dancing" (The South African Dancing with the Stars). I hope I can get up tomorrow for my flight. I will be 7 hours ahead of the US East Coast. For now I am looking forward to:

1. Smelling Mozambique again
2. Getting that first glance of the land from the plane through the clouds
3. Meeting the people at the Embassy that will give me an orientation and have been so helpful thus far.
4. Seeing my house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:) Later
